Hidden Dumpling House is a modest but bustling Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove known for its generous portions and made-to-order dumplings. It’s the kind of place that’s easy to miss if you’re just passing by, but locals have made it a regular stop for authentic, home-style flavors particularly centered around dumplings and classic Cantonese-inspired dishes.

The dining room is straightforward and clean, leaning more toward function than form, so don’t expect a fancy ambiance. Instead, the focus here is on the food—fresh and flavorful with an emphasis on wide variety. Diners who come in groups or families will appreciate how generous the portions are, with plates that feel just right to share or make a hearty solo meal.

Looking at the menu, dumpling lovers will find plenty to love, especially the Pork Buns, Shrimp Siu Mai, and Woe Wonton Soup, which locals praise for having just the right balance of filling and texture. The Deluxe Chow Mein, which mixes BBQ pork, chicken, and shrimp, is a crowd favorite, carrying that classic wok hei that gives it a distinctive flavor punch. Those who enjoy spice often go for the Mapo Tofu or the Deep Fried Spicy Wontons, adding a little heat to the meal.

This spot is ideal for casual dinners where the priority is good, honest food without any fuss. It often fills up around dinner time, so a weekday evening might be the best bet for a quieter experience. The parking lot is generally easy to navigate and well-lit, which helps with convenience and comfort after a long day.

Service here tends to be warm and attentive, with staff who are open to recommendations—something local visitors often mention as enhancing the experience. Whether you’re stopping in after a long day or meeting friends for a relaxed meal, Hidden Dumpling House delivers a reliably satisfying taste of traditional Chinese dumplings and comfort dishes right in the heart of Elk Grove.

We ate before our camera did. The food was delicious. We just happened to be in the parking lot and decided to stop by. Our waiter was great and recommended everything we ordered. The soup dumpling 10/10, the seasame chicken 10/10, the beef and onion meat pie 10/10. We will be back soon!

Update 7/7/25: their chow fun always hits the spot for me. Decided to try the chicken and mushroom steamed bun and was disappointed in how bland it is. I appreciate that it is made fresh to order. Outstanding service and food! Will be back to have dumplings.

It’s a small spot, but the food portions are huge. I tried the Pork, Shrimp & Chive Dumplings. The dumpling skin was thin yet chewy, and each one was generously stuffed with flavorful fillings. The Deluxe Chow Mein is also good. It includes BBQ pork, chicken, and shrimp. All tossed with that perfect wok hei.

My family and I love this little spot in Elk Grove. Their portions are generous and their food tastes fresh and delicious! We keep coming back for their Seafood Fried Rice but we always sub for Chicken and we love their Spicy Green Beans!

Hidden Dumpling House in Elk Grove is not a big restaurant, but it's very busy most of the time because of the yummy food. I love their XLB and other dishes—they're so delicious and fresh. The workers are very friendly. The dining room is not the best, but it's nice and clean. The parking lot is safe, and getting a space near the restaurant is easy.

My husband and I were on the hunt for an early dinner and this place had a great menu. It wasn't too busy at 4pm in a Friday and we sat right away. The staff was quick, friendly and attentive. I ordered a combo of sweet n sour chicken, my husband ordered deluxe pan fried noodles and we ordered chicken cilantro dumplings to share. The portions are huge! We had plenty to take for leftovers. All of the food was so fresh tasting and not too salty or greasy. My husband wanted his pan fried noodles more crispy; there was a lot of sauce on them and they got soggy, but they were still so good. My chicken was the best I've ever had! So crispy and fresh!

Super friendly staff! Was greeted right away by a very outgoing and friendly staff member and very quickly got our to go order, 0 wait time. The food was sooo so so so so good. We got two combos, sweet and sour pork, the kungpao beef, and the pork chive dumplings on the side. The plates were really good however the dumplings were sureally good. I want to to go and just order only dumplings. These dumplings were so good they will literally haunt my taste buds until I get them again.
